The Old Palace 

The Old Palace at Hatfield House is charged with a unique and colourful history dating from 1485 when the Bishop of Ely began building the original Palace of Hatfield of which the Old Palace is all that remains. This Grade 1 listed building has witnessed the grandest of functions from magnificent medieval balls to events of great historical importance such as Queen Elizabeth I’s inaugural Council of State in 1558. Royalty, lords and ladies, politicians and dignitaries have all been entertained at Hatfield House and with such a rolodex of history, this venue is sure to provide an impressive and unique atmosphere for an event that both you and your guests are sure to remember. 
The Old Palace can accommodate up to 300 guests for a cocktail reception, 250 for a luncheon or dinner and 200 for a sit-down dinner-dance. The versatility of this venue combined with the grandeur of the decor, location and backdrop creates a distinctive ambience especially with our inimitable blend of history and hospitality.
